Repeat

{What I'm Wearing: BlouseRuche "Chance Encounter Floral Necktie Blouse" (shop),
Cardigan—Anthropologie "Anza Cardi" (remixed), Jeans–Holding Horses, Boat Shoes–Sperry Top-sider}
Although this outfit is very similar to my last post, I still figured I would blog about it because I love this Ruche floral blouse. The ascot tie is very retro, and the color goes with pretty much anything. So, naturally, I decided to pair it with my favorite orange cardigan ever. Seriously though, I have worn this cardigan like crazy since I bought it last summer. Check out my outfits with it here!

P.S. You may have noticed I have been wearing more pieces from Ruche lately. Well...this small fact has to do with an exciting announcement I will be sharing soon :)

Happy Thursday!

On Paper

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

{What I'm Wearing: Tank—Forever 21, Cardigan—Anthropologie "Anza Cardi" (remixed),
Scarf—Anthropologie "Arno Scarf" (shop), Denim—Holding Horses, Necklace—Dogeared, Wedges—Cathy Jean Shoes}
I wore my new cityscape printed scarf out on a date with Andrew this past Memorial Day. I absolutely love the simple print, and I'm excited to continue to style it into more outfits. I know I will be able to throw it over any simple clothing combination—like the one I am wearing—to instantly make my outfit a little more fun and interesting.

For our date, we got Sprinkles Ice Cream and saw What to Expect When You're Expecting. Unfortunately, both were a little disappointing. Sometimes, a date sounds great on paper and winds up being a bit of a bust. Nevertheless, it was still nice to spend time together at the end of a long weekend and before finals stress sets in.

I know it's a little late...but I hope you all had a great long weekend! Summer is almost here...

Waffle Dot

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Ruche "Mesmerized Beauty Printed Dress" (shop)
Chambray Shirt: Forever 21 (remixed)
Earrings: Anthropologie (shop)
Necklace: vintage
Handbag: Fossil
Shoes: Sperry Top-Sider (shop)
I bought this dress from Ruche on a whim, and was so excited when I received it in the mail, because I absolutely love the vibrant blue color in person. To match the bright blue color of the dress, I decided to be funky and pair it with my vintage orange necklace. It's a quirky color combination, but I think it turned out well. It was also a bit chilly outside, so I threw on my chambray to complete my outfit. Lately, I have been finding it is the perfect layer over any printed dress!
We decided to try something new and went to Bru's Wifle—A Waffle Joint in Santa Monica for Sunday brunch. It was delicious, and I successfully avoiding spilling maple syrup on my dress. (This is a big deal for me, people!) Andrew got a tomato spinach egg scramble on a waffle, and I got their famous banana split waffles...but we really ended up sharing both. Overall, it was a great morning before work and I can't wait to go back!

To Downtown We Go

Monday, May 28, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Anthropologie "Becca Halter Dress" (shop)
Denim Jacket: Life in Progress via Forever 21
Straw Fedora: university student store (remixed)
Earrings: Anthropologie (shop)
Wedges: Cathy Jean Shoes
After we ate at The Pie Hole in Downtown, we came across this awesome street mural in the Arts District. Andrew's favorite animal is the wolf, so he was super excited when we saw it. It is definitely a one-of-a-kind find, and I'm happy we were able to snap some cool pictures of it before we left.

As for my outfit, I got the red dress I am wearing from work a few weeks ago, and figured I would save it for a special outing like this. It's the perfect LRD and I'm sure I will be pulling it out all summer long, especially for work. The only problem is, it's silk, which means plenty of wrinkles to go around. I really ought to invest in my own steamer, because I can't keep bringing my clothes into work to steam on my lunch breaks! Yes, I have done that before...

Happy Memorial Day!

Death by Pie

Sunday, May 27, 2012

To celebrate Andrew's 20th birthday, I took him to The Pie Hole in Downtown LA—a cute,
hole-in-the-wall café in the Arts District. It was the first time either of us had ever been there, but after having their pies, I assure you it won't be our last! Even though it was a little bit of a drive, going there was fun little adventure and it was nice to get out of our college town bubble for a bit...
For lunch, we got their macaroni & cheese pie and chicken pot pie. And for dessert we each tried a slice of their amazing lemon meringue pie and Mexican chocolate pie.
I would highly recommend all four of our choices!
I hope you are all having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and stay tuned for more photos to come from our adventure in Downtown!

(A Little Bit) Rockabilly

Friday, May 25, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Blouse: Forever 21 (remixed)
Cardigan: Nordstrom Brass Plum
Jeans: Urban Outfitters
Belt: thrifted
Flats: Target
There was something about my bright red floral blouse, cropped black pants, and leopard flats that made my outfit feel a little retro, a little preppy, and a little rockabilly. Unfortunately, I didn't have the rockabilly hair or makeup to match...but you get the idea.

Happy Friday! TGIF.

The Right Side of the Bed

Thursday, May 24, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Tank: Forever 21
Cardigan: Nordstrom Brass Plum
Maxi Skirt: Kaitlyn Clothing (remixed)
Earrings: Anthropologie (shop)
Belt: Nordstrom
Wedges: Cathy Jean Shoes
Yesterday was a great day. And I'm not particularly sure why...
Maybe it was the wonderful cool breeze, or the two soy vanilla lattés I had, or the work I got done at my internship, or the nap I took at 9pm that made me wide awake at midnight...but I must have just woken up on the right side of the bed.

Plus, I finally wore this maxi skirt that I haven't styled since the last time it showed up on my blog back in October! The skirt is a bit long on me, so unless I hike it up below my chest, I need to wear wedges with it. And I was feeling daring, so rather than changing into flats after my internship, I proudly wore my wedges to class and only got a few weird looks. It was great.
On a final note, I would just like to thank you all for being so supportive of my blog. I truly appreciate all the kind emails and comments I have been receiving lately. It really is a great motivator and makes me want to blog even more, so thank you.

P.S. Happy (almost) three day weekend...

A New Favorite

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Shirt: Madewell
Denim Jacket: Heritage 1981
Jeans: Anthropologie "Pilcro Stet Slit Crop" (shop)
Head Scarf: vintage
Earrings: Nordstrom Brass Plum
Belt: Nordstrom Brass Plum
Flats: Old Navy
I got these pants from work about a week ago, and they are quickly becoming new favorite in my closet. They are bright, comfy, and can instantly make any outfit more exciting! I decided to pair them with a plain tee and denim jacket to keep my look clean and simple. However, I rediscovered this fun head scarf in one of my drawers while I was back home this weekend, and couldn't resist throwing it into my outfit to add more color and give it a little bohemian-vibe.

Although I sometimes complain about not being able to bring all my clothes with me to school, it's actually a blessing in disguise. This is because, when I finally do come back home, all the clothes I had to leave behind seem brand new again—something that is very good for someone like me who shops for new clothes too much...

And while my new favorite orange pants may actually be new...this scarf feels like a new purchase to me!

Happy Tuesday!

One of Those Days

Thursday, May 17, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Blouse: Nordstrom Brass Plum
Vest: Forever 21 (remixed)
Maxi Skirt: Nordstrom Brass Plum (remixed)
Earrings: Anthropologie (shop)
Watch: Michael Kors
Flats: Anthropologie
I wore this semi-bohemian outfit to my internship yesterday. It was about 80 degrees outside, so I figured I would go with a breezy maxi and sleeveless top in an attempt to stay cool. Unfortunately, I forgot the little known fact that polyester is very conducive to sweating and is no match for humidity.

In all honesty, I was kind of a hot and tired mess the whole afternoon. Partly because of the heat, and partly because it really was just one of those days...

Golden Hour

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: ShopRuche (remixed)
Cardigan: Forever 21 (remixed)
Earrings: Anthropologie (shop)
Flats: Anthropologie
It feels like it has been forever since the last time I wrote a blog post. School has really started to pick up and I have also felt very unmotivated to take pictures of any of my outfits, especially when I am rushing to and from class, work, or my internship. At the beginning of every quarter, I am always amazed by how much free time I have. However, about halfway through I suddenly remember how much work school actually is and become overwhelmed by all the readings and assignments that pile up so easily...

Lately, one of the ways I have been dealing with my stress is by keeping my schedule as regular as possible. In the late afternoon—the "golden hour" right before sunset—I like to take blog photos (well...when I feel like it), exercise outside for a bit, shower, and then eat dinner. It's a nice little routine that I've developed and the perfect time to de-stress before I face my work for the night.

Beating the Heat

Thursday, May 10, 2012

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Forever 21
Skirt: Nordstrom Brass Plum
Necklace: H&M
Watch: Michael Kors
Sandals: Roxy
This outfit was my best attempt to beat the heat this past week. I've had this skirt for over two years, but haven't pulled it out of my closet for the longest time. But, thanks to the summery weather in LA, I was finally able to wear it out!
Even though I have been loving being able to dress for the warmer weather, it has also been so hard to concentrate lately with summer on the horizon. I can't believe there are only five weeks left in the quarter and then I'm done for the year! It's also weird to think that once I leave for summer break, I won't be back in LA until next January since I'll be in Ireland for fall quarter!

It's really crazy how quickly time passes in college...
